Below you can find information about your notebook and answers to any common questions you may have

How is my notebook made?

Handmade by a team of experts using techniques developed over generations, our notebooks are made by a small independent manufacturer in England. Once a design is finalised a print is made using a state-of-the-art digital printer to produce the cover. The cover is then measured, cut, folded, and hand-fixed around a 1500 mic caseboard, forming the hardcover

Whilst the cover is being produced the paper sections are folded and machine sewn into several sections before a binding glue is added to secure the cover into place whilst it is lowered into binding rollers.

Why is it stiff when I open it for the first few times?

Don't worry, this is normal. The final stage of the manufacturing process is the using a Nipping Press to ensure the binding is fixed in place and to flatten the folded sections of the book. This means initially the book will be a little stiff the first few times it is opened until the spine "relaxes".

What types of pens can I use on the paper?

For fountain pen users it is important that there is no bleed or ghosting. We have achieved this even with the heaviest fountain pen ink flows. Below you can see images of our ink tests:

Can I recycle my packaging?

Yes! Everything in your packaging is fully recyclable - the tape is paper based and if yours contained packing peanuts, these are starch based so can be disposed of in your food waste bin.
