Three Covers. Three Windows into Deep Time.
Three Covers. Three Fields.
Before equations, before laboratories, before written language itself, there was the Earth - and our first attempts to understand it.
Volume III: Ancient Earth is about deep time: the long human effort to read the planet’s memory, layer by layer, fossil by fossil, artifact by artifact.
This pocket notebook set brings together three disciplines that look backward in order to explain the present. Inside each notebook are carefully selected extracts and illustrations from the original works that defined archaeology, paleontology, and geology - from ancient coins and cave paintings to early fossil drawings and the first evidence that continents move.
We made this volume for people who are drawn to origins. To ruins, strata, and traces. To the idea that every landscape holds a story, if you know how to read it.
The cover draws from the visual language of excavation and discovery: weathered textures, fragmentary forms, and symbols pulled from across human history.
Inside are reproductions inspired by artifacts spanning millennia - coins bearing Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great, early cave paintings, and material from Ancient Egypt and Greece.
It’s a notebook shaped by the human impulse to leave marks behind and to find meaning in them.
A muted earth-toned cover echoes fossil beds and sediment layers, with delicate linework inspired by early scientific illustration.
The cover contains excerpts from the pioneering work of Mary Anning, Othniel Charles Marsh, and Richard Owen; the figures who helped transform scattered bones into the science of ancient life.
It’s a quiet tribute to patience, observation, and the stories locked in stone.
The geology cover reflects motion and force: fractured lines, shifting forms, and subtle references to seismic activity.
Featuring extracts from the work of Alfred Wegener, along with early seismograph records from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and illustrations from landmark geological publications.
This notebook is about scale - of time, of pressure, of change that happens whether we notice it or not.

Hi, my name's Damian!
I'm a chemistry teacher and during lockdown I wanted to design a notebook for myself that reflected my passion for science.
Then my friends asked for one. Then friends of friends. Then dozens of people I didn't know.
Since then we’ve sold over 30,000 notebooks which we're proud to say are made entirely in the UK and are of the highest quality - I'm confident you'll love writing in them.
Thanks for reading and please message if you’ve any questions,
Damian
